Grain coming in (August 08, 2009)
As the grain comes in and we start to think of autumn, why not think about doing something on the shorter nights and enter into Higher Level Stewardship.
As the plants continue to flourish and my wild garden is left to its own devices. I see burdock plants full of hoverflies and bees. Fleabane and some fabulous thistles that goldfinches are feeding on and the butterflies enjoy them too. Thistles not so good in a wheat field but in the right situation are fine.
