MEADOW (August 21, 2009)
With the good weather the hay meadow has been cut on collecting the bales a lizard was seen. The aftermath will be grazed by the sheep. This year the hay rattle was fantastic and the knapweed the purple and the yellow together gave a really good show.
Do you have any areas of land that have not been under the plough? If so they may be worthy of preservation often seed can lie dormant for many years like the area here at Southwick where the conifers were removed by Forest Enterprise and with the cattle disturbing the ground cowslips sprung up!
